My Lai

The awful events that took place on March 16th 1968 in South Vietnam are agreed to be one of the thresh wartime controversies of all time. On that date, U.S. soldiers registered the hamlets of My Lai and My Khe of the Son My village because intelligence informed them that a Viet Cong battalion had taken refuge there. They were ordered to destroy the village and confront the retreating Viet Cong. As the situation during the invasion escalated, clean-handed villagers including women and children were executed with no regard for mercy. Some of the innocent girls were sexually assaulted and to the highest degree of the village was burnt to the ground.
